Tangier Lobster has a state of the art facility nestled by the Atlantic Ocean on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. We are at water’s edge, protected by the 100 Wild Islands, and pristine may be the only way to describe this setting and the entire region.
Fortunately, the water is deep and maintains naturally cold temperatures throughout the year. In fact, ocean temperatures are among the coldest in the entire Atlantic region, and this is the setting for live lobster storage and shipment.
Our facility will accommodate 500,000 lbs of live lobster (227,000 kg) at peak capacity in a continuously supervised environment. Temperature is controlled while oxygen, ammonia and salinity are monitored constantly. We utilize lobster ‘ condos ’, individually slotted, and trickle down capability as well as traditional floater tanks – a range of holding systems to support our variety of live lobster activities. Our facility is indeed state of the art, regularly enhanced as new techniques in applied lobster science become available. It is all part of quality control.
